Who we are
JonesBuild is the trading name of Steve Jones, a sole trader running a building business in Gloucester. Steve is responsible for the personal information described in this notice.
If you have any questions about your information, or want to use any of your rights, contact Steve:
- JonesBuild, 211 Stroud Road, Gloucester GL1 5JU
- Phone: 07739 506070
- Email: steve@gloucestershirebuilders.co.uk
What we collect
When you use the quote form
We receive what you enter:
- your name, phone number and postcode
- your email address, if you choose to give it
- a description of the job, approximate dimensions if you add them, and your timescale
- any photos you add
When you call or email
We receive your phone number or email address, and whatever you tell us or send us about your job.
When you visit the website
Like most websites, the service that hosts this site may record basic technical information, such as your IP address and the type of browser you use, so it can show you the pages and keep the site secure.
If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics also collects information about your visit, such as the pages you view, the buttons you tap, the type of device you use and roughly where you are (town or region). See Cookies and analytics.
Why we use it
We use your information to reply to your enquiry, give you a quote and, if you decide to go ahead, plan and carry out the work.
Under data-protection law, our legal basis is that we need the information to take the steps you've asked for before a contract (your quote) and, if you become a customer, to carry out that contract. We may also keep some information where the law requires us to, such as for our business accounts.
We don't use your enquiry details for marketing, and we never sell your personal information.
Who sees it
Your enquiry goes to Steve. We don't share your information with anyone else for their own marketing.
If you go ahead, we only pass on what's needed. Trades we arrange for your job, such as electricians and Gas Safe registered engineers, get only what they need to do their part, such as your address and the details of the job. Suppliers delivering to the job address get only what they need for the delivery. If there's ever a claim, our insurer gets the details needed to deal with it.
The companies that host this website and provide our business email handle your information only to run the site and deliver messages to Steve.
If you accept analytics cookies, Google also receives information about how you use the site (see Cookies and analytics).
We may also share information if the law requires it.
Photos
Photos you send us
Photos you add to the quote form or send to Steve are used to understand the job and price it. We won't put them on the website or anywhere else without your permission.
Photos of our work
We take photos of our jobs to keep a record of the work and, with the homeowner's permission, to show on this website.
Before a photo goes on the website, we make sure it doesn't show anyone's face, a house number or a car number plate. We only say which town the job was in, never the street or address. Photos on this website don't carry hidden location data.
If a photo of your home is on the site and you'd like it taken down, contact Steve and we'll remove it.
Cookies and analytics
We use Google Analytics, a service provided by Google, to see how people use this website. For example, it shows how many people visit, which pages they look at, and whether they tap "Call Steve" or send the quote form. This helps us improve the site. It doesn't tell us your name or contact details.
Google Analytics is off unless you say yes. When you first visit, a small message asks if we can use analytics cookies. Nothing is sent to Google Analytics, and no analytics cookies are set, unless you choose "Accept". If you choose "No thanks", or don't choose, it stays off.
If you choose "Accept", Google Analytics sets these cookies in your browser:
_ga, which tells one visitor apart from another so we can count visits_ga_followed by a short code, which keeps track of your visit for our Google Analytics account
These cookies can last for up to two years. They're removed sooner if you delete them, and some browsers remove them sooner.
Google handles this information for us, to give us reports about how the site is used. Google keeps it only for a limited time, then deletes it. Google may handle it outside the UK, including in the United States. Where it does, it's protected by safeguards recognised under UK data-protection law.
We don't use advertising cookies, we don't use analytics for marketing, and we never sell your information.
Your browser remembers your choice (we store it as jb_analytics_consent) so we don't ask you on every page. This isn't sent to us or to Google.
Changing your mind. You can change your choice at any time with "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page. If you change to "No thanks", Google Analytics stops from the next page you open. Cookies it has already set stay in your browser until they expire, unless you delete them in your browser settings. If you clear your browser's saved data, we'll ask you again.
The menu, photo filters and quote form work whether or not you accept analytics cookies.
How long we keep it, and keeping it safe
We keep enquiry details only for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry. If you become a customer, we keep job records for as long as we need them for any guarantee, our accounts and other legal requirements. After that, we delete them.
We take sensible steps to keep your information secure, and only people who need it to deal with your enquiry or your job can see it.
Your rights
Under UK data-protection law (the UK GDPR), you have rights over your personal information. Depending on the situation, you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the information we hold about you
- correct anything that's wrong or incomplete
- delete your information
- limit how we use it, or stop using it
- give you information you provided in a format you can pass to someone else
Not every right applies in every situation; for example, we may need to keep some records for our accounts. To use any of these rights, call or email Steve using the details above. There's normally no charge, and we'll reply within one month.
Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell Steve so he can try to put it right.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data-protection regulator:
